Chicago Weather: Thunderstorms Sweep Through, Bringing Torrential Rain, Strong Winds

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued Saturday afternoon and evening, as gusty storms brought torrential rain and powerful winds, bringing down tree limbs across the area.
The storms brought wind gusts of up to 60 mph to Chicago, the suburbs, and northwest Indiana, bringing down trees, branches, and powerlines across the area.
Strong winds brought down a massive tree in Chicago Lawn, crushing at least three cars parked near 64th and Richmond.
"I seen the tree on the ground, and I thought it was my car, so I was freaking out, and I ran towards the tree, saw that it wasn't my car – thank God – but it was my brother's, actually," Jasmine Paredes said.
"Pretty scary, because if we were here, we would have gotten hit, because we're normally outside in the front," Thania Estrada said.
Another huge tree limb fell on the street, blocking traffic near 73rd and Campbell.
After the storms wind down Saturday evening, things should clear out nicely, and cool down to a low of 70.
Sunday will bring sunshine and falling humidity with a high of 93 degrees.
Temperatures will stay in the 90s until midweek, when a few storms may return on Wednesday. Temperatures should be cooler by week's end.

Saturday: Hazy, hot and humid. Afternoon storms could be strong or severe. High of 91.
Saturday night: Showers and storms early. 73.
Sunday: Sunny and hot. 93.
