Sandra Bland's Family Not Happy With Grand Jury Proceedings

(CBS) -- The family of a Naperville woman who died inside a Texas jail in July says they are not happy with grand jury proceedings going on in Houston this week.

Sandra Bland, 28, was arrested July 10 in Waller County, Texas, during a confrontational traffic stop about 50 miles from Houston. Authorities have said Bland hanged herself three days later.

Bland's sister, Sharon Cooper, says they've been kept in the dark over the investigation.

"They haven't told us anything, haven't reached out to the family haven't spoken to key witnesses that we deem important to this case in providing facts as to what occurred," Cooper said.

The grand jury is expected to meet this week behind closed doors. They are looking into whether any laws were broken into the case and whether anyone should face criminal charges.

The Bland family has filed its own wrongful death lawsuit set for trial in January of 2017.
