Hoax bomb threat prompts evacuation of Romeoville High School

CBS News Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) – A hoax bomb threat at Romeoville High School forced the evacuation of students and staff from the building as a precaution on Tuesday.

The evacuation took place at the school around 11:30 a.m. Students and staff were relocated to a secure outdoor area.

Valley View School District said there was never a threat to anyone's safety and that the incident "mirrors the multiple incidents that have disrupted public schools and libraries throughout the Chicagoland area."

The district said police identified the source of the threat and confirmed there was no credibility to it. A juvenile from out of state made the threat.

Police searched the entire school and told school officials it was safe to return to the building around 1:34 p.m.
