Off Duty Officer Charged With Hitting And Killing 9-Year-Old Boy On Bike

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An off duty Chicago police officer is now cited with hitting and killing a 9-year-old boy riding his bike in West Rogers Park.
Hershel Weinberger died Wednesday night after a pickup truck hit him in the crosswalk at Sacramento and Chase right by his house. The driver, who stayed at the scene, was an off duty police officer.
He has been cited with failure to exercise due care for a pedestrian in the road.
