Roenick Would 'Love' To Be Blackhawks' Color Analyst
(CBS) Former Chicago star Jeremy Roenick said he'd "love" to become the Blackhawks TV color commentator if current analyst Eddie Olczyk were to leave for a coaching position or another job in the NHL, which Olczyk has admitted he's open to doing.
"I do, I do," Roenick said in an interview with the McNeil and Spiegel Show on Monday morning. "I would love to sit next to (Blackhawks play-by-play man) Pat Foley or (NBC play-by-play man) Doc Emrick, one of the two. I would love to step in where Eddie is. I think that color analyst position is so much fun to get your opinions out during the game."
There was some bad blood between Roenick and the Blackhawks after he left in 1996, but that's well behind him. Roenick said he's and Foley are "really good friends" and added he respects the organization's ownership and management.
"I've been very fortunate to maintain a relationship with Chicago, with (president) John McDonough," Roenick said.
