The two female juveniles stole the unmarked silver 2005 Chevrolet Impala at 145th Street and Pulaski in Midlothian and drove it northbound on Pulaski.

The heist happened around 11 a.m. after a veteran police officer left the car running in the fast food parking lot and went inside to order, police said.

Shortly after they crashed into a white box truck, the two females were arrested and were taken to Roseland Hospital.

The theft was captured on surveillance cameras and the video shows the two young women walking up to the running car and driving off. Police believe the suspects did not realize it was a police car.

There were no weapons in the car.
