Rizzo Wins NL Player Of The Week Award

(CBS) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has been named the National League player of the week.

Rizzo batted 5-of-11 with three homers, four RBIs and five run in the three games against the Diamondbacks in the short week after the All-Star break. Rizzo now has 23 homers this season, tied for first in the NL with Giancarlo Stanton and tied for fourth in the majors. He's also hitting .281 with 53 RBIs, and he recently made his first All-Star Game appearance.

Rizzo's award -- for which he'll receive a watch for, the Chicago Tribune reported -- is the lone bright spot of late for the Cubs, who are 2-11 in their last 13 games.
