Rick Hahn Downplays Slow Start By White Sox

(CBS) Following an offseason that reworked the White Sox into a contender, the Kansas City Royals swept Chicago in the season-opening series.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn isn't concerned about the team's start, addressing that among other topics on the Mully and Hanley Show on Friday morning.

"Obviously, it's not the start we wanted, and it was disappointing out come of (Kansas City) 0-3," Hahn said. "The fact of the matter is, over the course of a 162-game season, we were likely going to lose three in a row. It's just unfortunate it's right off the start, right off the bat when there's so much anticipation and excitement."

In the opening game, the White Sox fell 10-1, then dropped the next two games by scores of 7-5 and 4-1.

Chicago is hoping to reverse its fortunes at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday, when it hosts the Minnesota Twins in the home opener.

"We're excited," Hahn said. "We're certainly not going to let three days dictate what's going to happen over the next 159 games."

Hecot Noesi gets the start for the White Sox, taking on the Twins' Tommy Milone. First pitch is set for 3:10. p.m.
