(CBS) -- A dog rescue group is asking people who live near Midway Airport to keep an eye out for a runaway pooch.

Madison, a roughly 3-year-old Doberman, already had a challenging life as a breeder dog in Texas, according to the folks at Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus.

Vice President Lauren Kelliher says a volunteer was taking Madison from a private plane at Midway on Friday morning to a car that would bring her to her new home in Wisconsin. But the dog escaped.

The brown Doberman slipped out of her harness while the volunteer was walking her ahead of their long car ride, Kelliher says.

She tells anyone who sees Madison not to approach her, given the dog's terrified state and tendency to run from people.

On top of that, Kelliher says, the dog probably doesn't even know her name and hasn't been micro-chipped.

She suggests calling police if you see Madison. They have been notified, along with Animal Care and Control.
