Republican Presidential Candidate John Kasich Makes Campaign Stop In Chicago
(CBS) -- Ohio Governor John Kasich made a campaign stop in downtown Chicago this afternoon. He was also in the city doing some fundraising, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.
Governor Kasich did some noontime campaigning at Portillos on West Ontario Street calling himself a reformer willing to fight the leaders of his own Republican Party when necessary and he lashed out at those pushing toward a government shutdown.
"If you are going to shut the government down, you gotta be pretty certain you are going to get a result and just to shut it down and open it up with no result just so you can kind of make a statement doesn't make a lot of sense to me," he said.
Kasich, who grew up in Pittsburgh, also talked about baseball and the upcoming wild card playoff involving the Chicago Cubs and potentially the Pittsburgh Pirates.
"How ridiculous is it that these two teams, in all likelihood Pittsburgh and Chicago, will play one lousy game?" he said. "It's time to change this. This is an outrage."
But he admits even if he became president, there is little he could do about it.
