People Stabbed On Amtrak Train

(CBS) -- A suspect was taken into custody after four people were stabbed aboard an Amtrak train in southwestern Michigan on Friday evening.

Niles, Mich. police tell WSBT-TV that four people were stabbed on the train, which Amtrak says was on its way to Port Huron from Chicago. One person was in serious condition, and another victim was the train's conductor, the station reports. Further information was not available about conditions.

Police reportedly were called to the train as the attack was occurring. They took the 44-year-old suspect into custody after using a stun gun on him, WSBT reported.

Amtrak said it was arranging alternate transportation for 172 passengers from Niles, where the train was stopped.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Chicago time Friday.
