Reports: Fred Hoiberg's On A Plane To Chicago To Finalize Deal With Bulls

(CBS) Before boarding a plane bound for Chicago late Monday afternoon, Fred Hoiberg told reporters in Ames, Iowa that a deal to become the Bulls' new coach wasn't done but that he was looking to finalize it this evening.

Given his friendship with general manager Gar Forman and others in the franchise, Hoiberg has long been on the Bulls' radar, even before last Thursday's firing of Tom Thibodeau. He's spent his last five seasons coaching alma mater Iowa State.

Hoiberg compiled a 115-56 overall mark (.673) and led the Cyclones to Big 12 Tournament titles in the past two seasons in a run he cherished, but it appears he's now moving on.
