Bears Sign DL Ray McDonald To 1-Year Deal

(CBS) The Bears have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent defensive lineman Ray McDonald, the team confirmed Tuesday afternoon. The deal is pending a physical.

The 30-year-old McDonald spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career in San Francisco, where he previously played for new Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. McDonald has experience in the 3-4 scheme that Chicago will now run under Fangio. McDonald has played both end and tackle on the defensive line.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound McDonald had three sacks in 14 games in 2014. He's played in 115 career games, with 68 starts. He has 19.5 career sacks.

He's also been under much scrutiny and in legal trouble. He was released by the 49ers in December after being accused of sexual assault in San Jose, Calif., though no charges were filed. The case is still open.

McDonald also has a previous domestic violence arrest in August. Charges weren't pressed after there was a lack of evidence.
