Reports: Bears, Seahawks In Battle For Michael Bennett
(CBS) It appears as if Chicago or Seattle will be the landing spot for free agent defensive end/tackle Michael Bennett, according to reports early Monday afternoon.
ESPN Insider Adam Schefter tweeted that the Seahawks are the favorites to sign Bennett at this point, but according to Chicago Tribune beat writer Brad Biggs, the Bears have made a superior financial offer. Biggs reported Chicago is offering $8.5 million per year while Seattle is offering around $8 million.

Just less than 27 hours before players can sign contracts. We'll see what direction this heads. Bennett has been top target of #Bears

In desperate need of a pass rusher, the Bears were long pegged to have an interest in Bennett, and his brother Martellus is pushing hard for Michael to join him in Chicago. Michael had 8 1/2 last season as he helped the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title.
NFL.com Insider Ian Rapoport echoed Schefter's tweet, saying the Bears have turned their attention elsewhere.
