Report: White Sox Interested In Tim Lincecum

(CBS) The White Sox are one of the three most interested teams in two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum, according to FOX Sports insider Ken Rosenthal.

Lincecum has also fielded interest from the Giants, his former team, and the Angels, according to Rosenthal, who added a decision isn't near.

Lincecum, 31, is coming off hip surgery in 2015 that ended his season with the Giants. He remained a free agent and held a workout last Friday that drew MLB scouts and executives.

The Cy Young winner in 2008 and 2009, Lincecum fell off in recent years, even getting relegated to the bullpen. He went to the All-Star Game from 2008 through 2011, recording a 2.81 ERA in those four seasons.

The White Sox have been in search of a solidified fifth starter after designating veteran left-hander John Danks for assignment last week. The team has tried Erik Johnson and Miguel Gonzalez, with Gonzalez earning more starts in the near future.

White Sox executive vice president Kenny Williams was in attendance for Lincecum's workouts.
