Report: Warriors Planning To Contact Thibodeau About Coaching Opening

(CBS) When the Warriors fired coach Mark Jackson after a 51-win season that ended with a first-round exit at the hands of the Clippers, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau's name was quickly thrown into the hat as a possible candidate.

Now, it appears Golden State is set to act on that interest.

The Warriors are expected to contact the Bulls about speaking with Thibodeau about their opening, the San Francisco Chronicle reported late last night.

At this stage, the Thibodeau/Golden State rumblings are still very preliminary, and there have been no indications whether he'd even be interested in listening. The Warriors, according to multiple reports, have their sights set on Steve Kerr and Stan Van Gundy as their top two candidates, and they could interview as many as a dozen people, the Chronicle reported.

Nonetheless, it's the latest development that illustrates a disconnect between Thibodeau and the Bulls' front office. Thibodeau has three years left on his contract with Chicago, but neither side has come out to put an end to the constant speculation. The Lakers have also been reported to be interested in Thibodeau.
