Tim Anderson, White Sox Agree To 6-Year, $25-Million Deal

(CBS) The White Sox have ensured that Tim Anderson will be their shortstop of the future.

The sides have agreed to a six-year deal that's worth $25 million through the 2022 season, the team announced Tuesday. The deal also includes two club options of $12.5 million for 2023 and $14 million for 2024, which if exercised would bring the total to $51.5 million. If either option is declined, the team owes a $1 million buyout to Anderson.

With this agreement, the White Sox have bought out the 23-year-old Anderson's arbitration years and first two years of free agency. He was previously on track to be a free agent after the 2022 season.

The team's first-round pick in the 2013 draft, Anderson hit .283 with nine homers, 30 RBIs, 57 runs, 10 stolen bases and a .738 OPS in 99 games in 2016, when he finished seventh in the American League Rookie of the Year voting.
