Report: Mike Shanahan Not On Bears' Radar

(CBS) A day after reports surfaced that the Bears have interest in Mike Shanahan for their coaching vacancy, ESPN's Ed Werder has reported that Shanahan isn't on the list of the team's coaching prsopects.

Shanahan drew attention in part because of his work previously with quarterback Jay Cutler and receiver Brandon Marshall while the three were all in Denver. Shanahan was the coach there when the Broncos drafted Cutler and Marshall in 2006.

Shanahan has been out of the game for a year after being fired in Washington following the 2013 season. He has a 170-138 record over a 20-year coaching career.

So far, the Bears have confirmed they've interviewed Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase and Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. They also have an interview scheduled with Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles for Saturday, according to reports.

Chicago would like to hire a general manager first. It interviewed Tennessee vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson and Houston director of pro scouting Brian Gaine on Tuesday for that vacancy. The Bears are also meeting with Chiefs director of pro personnel Chris Ballard on Wednesday and likely will talk with Saints director of pro personnel Ryan Pace as well, per the Tribune.
