Report: Katy Perry To Perform At Super Bowl Halftime Show

(CBS) The one and only Katy Perry is taking her talents to television's biggest stage.

The pop music star will perform at halftime of this season's Super Bowl, according to a Billboard report. Coldplay and Rihanna were previously reported to have been finalists to perform as well.

There was a ruckus raised when reports surfaced in August that the NFL wanted artists to pay to play. Whether that's the case for Perry is unclear, but on a College Gameday spot on ESPN last Saturday, she said, "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."

Perry has a massive following, with 58 million Twitter followers and nine No. 1 hits.

An estimated 111.5 million viewers were tuned in to see Bruno Mars' halftime performance last February, and the attention brings massive benefits for artists.

Super Bowl XLIX will be played on Feb. 1, 2015, in Glendale, Ariz.
