Report: Del Negro Emerges As 'Serious Candidate' For T'Wolves Job

(CBS) Vinny Del Negro has emerged as a "serious candidate" for the Timberwolves' vacant coaching position, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein.

Del Negro had an interview last week, Stein reported. His name has surfaced after talks between Minnesota and current Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger broke down over the weekend. Del Negro last coached in 2012-'13, when he led the Clippers to 57 wins in the regular season before they stumbled in the first round of the playoffs. Before his three seasons in Los Angeles, Del Negro coached Chicago for two years, leading the Bulls to 41-41 records in 2008-'09 and 2009-'10, with both years ending in first-round playoff exits.
