Report: Cubs Making Strong Push To Sign Lester

(CBS) -- The Chicago Cubs are reportedly making a strong push to sign free agent pitcher Jon Lester, according to CBS Sports reporter Jon Heyman.

Heyman reports that the Cubs' offer may be more than $140 million for six years for Lester and that multiple teams have made offers of more than $130 million.

Lester's former team, the Boston Red Sox, are among the teams competing to sigh the left-handed starter. Red Sox owner John Henry reportedly flew to Atlanta to meet with Lester on Friday.

Heyman reports Lester will likely pick a new team sometime during MLB's winter meetings that begin Monday.
