Report: Blackhawks Prospect Stephen Johns Suffers Broken Forearm

(CBS) If there was any thought of prospect Stephen Johns getting a call-up to help the Blackhawks in their Stanley Cup playoff run, it's now off the table.

Johns suffered a broken forearm in the Rockford Icehogs' season-ending Game 5 loss to the Grand Rapids in the second round of the AHL playoffs on Sunday, WIFR-TV sports director Scott Grodsky reported. Johns' recovery is expected to take four to six weeks, WREX's Dan Cohen reported.

The broken forearm is, unfortunately, only one of many injury hurdles for Johns this year. He also had a concussion and a knee injury earlier in the season.

The 23-year-old Johns was a second-round pick by the Blackhawks in the 2010 draft.

The Blackhawks recently lost defenseman Michal Rozsival to a season-ending ankle fracture, and replacement David Rundblad struggled Sunday in Chicago's 4-1 loss to Anaheim in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final. Game 2 is Tuesday.
