Report: Bears' Willie Young Asked For Trade

(CBS) As his role has diminished and he's struggled to fit in to coordinator Vic Fangio's 3-4 defense, Bears linebacker Willie Young apparently wants out of Chicago.

Young recently approached team management to ask for a trade, ProFootballTalk.com reported Sunday night. The request shortly after the Bears traded Jared Allen -- another defensive end-turned-linebacker -- last week.

Young was a healthy scratch for Chicago in a Week 3 loss at Seattle. He was active in Sunday's win against Oakland but didn't record a tackle, playing 18 of 58 defensive snaps. He only has two tackles on the season.

Young, 30, has been a defensive end for most of his career. He had 10 sacks for the Bears in 2014 and was one of the team's most consistent performers at his defensive end position.

Young signed a three-year, $9-million deal in spring 2014.
