Bears Make Several Roster Moves

(CBS) The Chicago Bears have promoted offensive tackle Nick Becton from the practice squad to the active roster and signed safety Sherrod Martin to the active roster.

Becton played in one NFL game in 2013 with the San Diego Chargers. He spent time on the New York Giants practice squad and the roster of the New Orleans Saints last season.

Martin has played 72 games, starting 38, in five seasons with the Carolina Panthers (2009-2012) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2014). He spent the 2015 preseason with the Bears.

The Bears also signed defensive tackle Brandon Dunn and center Barrett Jones to the practice squad.

Punter Spencer Lanning and linebacker John Timu were both waived. Wide receiver Jalen Saunders was placed on the practice squad/injured list and terminated the practice squad contract of defensive tackle Terry Williams.

Chicago travels to Kansas City for a Sunday contest with the Chiefs.
