Report: Bears Have No Interest In Rex Ryan

(CBS) Despite having a defense that has sagged to the bottom of the league over the past two seasons, one defensive-minded former head coach is not piquing the Bears' interest.

Former Jets coach Rex Ryan is not among one of the coaches the Bears are interested in interviewing, per a report from ProFootballTalk.com.

Ryan was the first coach to be fired on "Black Monday." In six seasons with the Jets, Ryan compiled a 46-50 record, with back-to-back AFC Championship appearances in 2009 and 2010.

Ryan's undoing in New York was his inability to get the offense figured out, as his defenses ranked in the top six four times and never ranked lower than 11th overall.

Both Rex and his brother Rob served as ball boys while their father Buddy was the Bears defensive coordinator from 1978 through 1985.

The Bears did however, confirm interviews with Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Denver offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
