CHICAGO (CBS) -- A landmark northwest suburban nightspot is up for sale.

The original building for the Penny Road Pub in Barrington was built in 1853.

Owner Dave Sanfilippo said his father bought the place in 1972. After 43 years in the family, he said it's time to sell.

"It's not a corporate bar. You know, I mean we've always had good burgers, and we make our own pizza, and our own Italian beef," he said.

One reason he's selling is because of his health. Sanfilippo said he he has diabetes, and needs to be in a warmer climate during the winter.

"Chicago is too tough for me. The winters are too tough," he said.

Sanfilippo also said his son does not have ambitions to take over the business.

He was asking $1.1 million for the pub, which he says is a "cheap" asking price, since he remodeled the bar and eatery in 1994 for $1.7 million.
