Regional Senate Hearings Set On Illinois Construction Needs

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Two key Illinois state senators will travel the state this month and next month to hear what kind of infrastructure needs taxpayers have in their communities.

Democratic state Sens. Andy Manar of Bunker Hill and Martin Sandoval of Chicago will have five public hearings to compile a wish list for a statewide capital construction plan. Manar is chairman of a Senate appropriations committee and Sandoval is head of the Transportation Committee.

Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker has said he wants a multibillion-dollar construction program to rebuild roads, bridges, colleges and more.

The first hearing will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Following hearings will be March 18 in Decatur, April 8 in Peoria, April 16 in Chicago and April 22 in Elgin.
