Red Line Train Strikes, Critically Injures Person

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A person was struck by a Red Line train and critically injured early Tuesday on the South Side.

The male, whose age wasn't known, apparently jumped in front of the train at the 47th Street Station, 220 W. 47th St., according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said. Additional information was not available.

Red Line service was temporarily experiencing delays and shuttle buses were made available as trains were bypassing 47th Street. By 5:23 a.m., normal service was being restored.
