Protesters Deliver Petitions To City Hall Calling For Emanuel, Alvarez To Resign

CHICAGO (CBS) -- About 30 people chanted and held signs across from City Hall, once again calling for the resignations of the Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez.

"Rahm Emanuel and Anita Alvarez are not the leadership that Chicago needs," said Scott Roberts with Color of Change. "Chicago needs new leadership."

Roberts says they've collected signatures from 250,000 people across the country calling for Emanuel and Alvarez to resign. The petitions were then stacked in boxes that they carried over to the fifth floor.

Roberts says the city and county have had years to clean up what he calls well known abuses of the Chicago Police Department. Members of the Black Youth Project, Moveon.org and SEIU Healthcare were also on hand.
