Protesters March For Second Night After Release Of Laquan McDonald Shooting Video
(CBS) -- Dozens of protesters moved through the Loop and River North early Wednesday evening, causing traffic disruptions in wake of the release of dashcam video showing Laquan McDonald fatally shot by a Chicago Police officer last year.
The protesters started near State and Jackson before moving down Randolph. The protesters locked arms and shut down Randolph and State before moving to Michigan Ave. At Michigan and Pearson, they staged a die-in. They then marched down Wabash and stopped near Trump Tower.
Later in the evening, protesters marched outside the Chicago Police First District Station in the South Loop, where at least one person was arrested.
On Tuesday afternoon, city officials released police dashcam video showing 17-year-old Laquan McDonald fatally shot by a Chicago Police officer last year. That prompted hundreds of protesters blocking streets Tuesday evening. The officer involved in the shooting, Jason Van Dyke, was charged with first degree murder on Tuesday prior to the video being released.
