Prospect High School Reels Over Child-Porn Allegations Against Parent
(CBS) – Prospect High School is offering counseling for students, now that a parent there faces child porn charges.
Not just any parent. Ron Godby, 53, is a cop and the father of a student and often photographed school events.
Many in the Mount Prospect community are shocked by the charge.
Godby is well-known and liked by many parents and students, and most are reserving judgment until the legal process is complete. In the meantime, he's been banned from school property.
In an email sent to parents from the school's principal, Michelle Dowling says the school's student services team is available to speak with parents and students if needed.
She also says Godby has been instructed to remove all photos of District 214 students from his photography website, but CBS 2 found several of those photos still on the website Friday.
Godby could not be reached for comment.
One parent who's known Godby for years says she's shocked and discouraged by the allegations.
"He's a friend, and we're praying for him, and we're hoping that it's not true, and we're wondering actually what we can do for the family," Debbie Russo says.
