Prosecutors: Man Slammed His Elderly Mother's Head Into Sidewalk

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Logan Square neighborhood man allegedly slammed his 72-year-old mother's head into a sidewalk repeatedly as she tried to grab keys from her intoxicated son, the Sun-Times is reporting.

Jesus Quinones Jr., 30, is charged with aggravated battery of a person over 60.

Quinones' mother was trying to stop him from driving while intoxicated when he allegedly punched her in the face around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

After the woman fell, he grabbed her arms and shoulders and slammed her head into a sidewalk repeatedly, Cook County prosecutors said Saturday.

A neighbor saw and heard the attack and called police.

The woman was found on the porch with blood on her face. Her son was in the backyard and was combative with police, according to his arrest report.

The woman was taken to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment. She sustained bruises and lacerations to her face, prosecutors said.

Judge Laura Sullivan ordered Quinones held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
