Prosecutors: Man Punches Girlfriend, Runs Over Her Leg

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Chicago man was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail Sunday after he allegedly ran over his girlfriend's leg and spit on police who responded to the incident, the Sun-Times reports.

Cory York, 34, of the 4200 block of West 79th Place, threw his girlfriend's glasses out the window of his SUV during an argument on Friday in the 8600 block of South Pulaski, prosecutors said.

He punched her and tried to block her path when she went to retrieve the glasses and drove over her leg, prosecutors said. York also is accused of spitting on police officers and trying to kick out the window of a police car.

The woman suffered an ankle sprain and lacerations to her leg.

York was charged with two felony counts: aggravated battery and aggravated battery of a police officer.

He appeared before Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil on Sunday.
