Powerball Players Seek The Mojo Of 'Winningest' Lottery Outlet

(CBS) – Powerball fever is sweeping across the country after no one lucked into the big jackpot earlier this week.

Saturday's jackpot is expected to hit a record $700 million.

CBS 2's Vince Gerasole visits a Chatham lottery outlet that has proven popular with the hopeful.

Drive by the Citgo at 83rd and King, and you're passing the city's "winningest" high payout lottery station (according to an analysis by DNAInfo). In the past five years, it has sold five winning tickets worth at least $20,000. The grand total is $350,000.

The clerks behind the glass are its lucky charms. The signs around the store document big wins, and the clerks account for them with pride. Some of the higher payouts have been for $200,000 and $175,000.

Citgo clerk Kanif Khddai says there have been so many $10,000 to $20,000 payouts, "We forgot how many we got."

The reputation has folks coming in from far and wide.
