Pothole Causes Chicago Woman To Trip, Break Leg
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Over the years, Chicago's infamous potholes have broken bicycle rims, car tire rims, even car axles, but last week, a Lakeview pothole caused an unfortunate Chicago grandmother to break a leg.

79-year-old Jay Schneider is slowly learning to walk again after losing her battle with a Chicago pothole.
"I would have been mad that if it were a tire, my tire, so you can imagine how mad I am that it's my leg," Schneider said.
It happened right on Broadway between Melrose and Aldine.
"It hurt so badly that I knew something really bad had happened," Schneider said.
As Schneider was getting back into her car, she tripped and fell right into a pothole. Paramedics transported her to Illinois Masonic.
Just days after her injury, CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reported from that very location on the city's city plans to repave.
Schneider required surgery to insert a rod inside her right femur.
The pothole that caused Jay Schneider's injury is still there, still a menace to anyone passing by.
"I expected maybe a flat tire from a pothole but not a broken hip," she said.
The city says that stretch of Broadway is due for re-paving, part of a program to plans to resurface 55 miles of Chicago streets.
