Porch Collapses In Evanston, Injuries Reported

(CBS) -- A porch collapsed Monday evening in Evanston, and at least three people were injured.

City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz tweeted about the incident, which occurred in the 1900 block of Darrow after 8 p.m. About 15 people were on a porch when it collapsed, he said.

At least three people were transported to the hospital in stable condition, Evanston Fire Department Division Chief Tom Janetske said at the scene. He said the third-floor porch deck collapsed onto a second-floor porch. The accident was likely related to people gathering at a Memorial Day celebration, the official said.

"Everyone was having a good time, and all of a sudden the floor gave way," Janetske said.
