Police: Woman Tried To Lure Two Children Into Car In Belmont Cragin

(STMW) -- Police are searching for a woman who attempted to lure two children into a car Tuesday morning in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The children were approached by the woman about 7:40 a.m. while she was driving a black four-door car in the 5400 block of West Schubert, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The woman asked the children if they wanted a ride and after they said no, she asked a second time, police said. When she received the same answer, the vehicle drove away eastbound on Schubert.

Five additional people — three men and two children — were also in the vehicle, police said.

The woman is described as white, middle-aged with medium-length blond hair and a light complexion, police said. She was wearing a black jacket.

The car was black, with a thin white stripe running across the taillights and a partial Illinois license plate of 97732, police said.

Anyone with information on the attempted luring should contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
