Police Warning Lakeview Residents After Man Attempts To Lure 9-Year-Old Girl
(CBS) -- Chicago Police have issued a community alert for the neighborhood around Hamlin Park on the North Side.
Police say a 9-year-old girl who was in Hamlin Park about 7:20 one evening was approached by a man in the field house.
And that the next day when the girl was at the park with her parents, the man approached her again.
Now police have put out an alert about attempted child luring.
And the president of the Hamlin Park Neighbors, Charles Beach, says he's surprised to hear about the incident.
"It's an anomaly for the neighborhood."
Police describe the offender as a white male 50 to 60 years in age, 6'0 to 6'4, and weighing 170lbs with long grey hair in a mullet-style. He also has a mustache and facial hair.
The suspect was wearing a baseball hat, a Hawaiian shirt, long khaki shorts and tan colored boat style shoes.
