Police Warn Of West Side Carjackings

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are warning West Side residents are three carjackings were reported in the last two weeks.

Three men pull the victims out of their vehicles and then take off in the victim's vehicle, according to a community alert from Area North detectives.

The carjackings happened:

  • at 8:50 p.m. Sept. 25 in the 100 block of South Hamlin;
  • at 12:30 a.m. Sept. 30 in the 700 block of South Cicero; and
  • at 10:20 a.m. Sept. 30 in the 700 block of South Kenneth.

Police describe the suspects as three black men between 25 and 30 years old. During one incident, they used a white vehicle, possibly a Dodge Charger.
