Police Warn Of West Side Armed Robberies

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Chicago Police are warning residents in the North Lawndale, West Garfield Park and Humboldt Park neighborhoods on the West Side of armed robberies.

In all four incidents, two men walked up to victims in their vehicles, pulled out guns and took their property before driving away in a blue Chevrolet Impala or black Nissan Altima, according to a community alert from police.

The armed robberies happened:

• at 4:10 a.m. April 23 in the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue;
• at 6:30 a.m. May 7 in the 1100 block of South Keeler Avenue;
• at 2:20 a.m. May 8 in the 200 block of North Hamlin Avenue;
• and at 3:13 a.m. May 8 in the 4300 block of West Washington Boulevard.

The first suspect was described as a 5-foot-9, 165 pound black man between 26 and 29 years of age, police said. The second suspect was described as a 5-foot-9, 155-170 pound black man with dreadlocks between 23 and 27 years of age.
