Police Warn Of Armed Robberies In Avondale, Logan Square

(STMW) -- Chicago Police are warning businesses and residents about a series of recent armed robberies in the Logan Square and Avondale neighborhoods on the North Side.

At least three businesses have been robbed at gunpoint in the two neighborhoods since Sunday, according to a community alert from police.

The robberies happened:

• At 8:24 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the 3100 block of North Central Park Avenue;
• At 8:32 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 2800 block of West Belmont Avenue;
• At 10:09 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the 2700 block of West Armitage Avenue.

In each of the robberies, two men robbed small businesses at gunpoint, police said. All three businesses had signs or posters in the store front windows, preventing employees from seeing outside, and pedestrians seeing inside.

The robbers were described as two Hispanic males, wearing black ski masks, black coats, black pants and black gloves, police said. In another case, the robbers were described as two black males, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black jeans and black or red gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
