Police: Teenage Boy Fatally Shot In Humboldt Park

(STMW) -- A teenage boy was shot and killed early Sunday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, according to police.

Police responded to a call of a person shot in the 900 block of North Karlov about 1:15 a.m. when they found a 16-year-old boy on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head, police said.

The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The boy has gang affiliations, according to a police source.
