Police Still Seeking Car Stolen In Sycamore Double Homicide
CHICAGO (CBS) -- DeKalb County Sheriff's Police said they're still looking for clues in the murders of a mother and son whose bodies were found this week in rural Sycamore.
Monday evening, 85-year-old Patricia Wilson and her 64-year-old son, Robert Wilson, were found dead inside their home. The coroner's office said both of them died from blunt force trauma.
Sheriff Roger Scott said the white Chevy Impala stolen their home after they were killed has not yet been found, and is thought to be a key piece of evidence in their murders. Helicopters went up in the days after the murders to search for the car, which has Illinois license plate 903 0980.
Scott said crime scene technicians were back at the Wilsons' home again Thursday, continuing to process the scene.
The sheriff said area residents should remain vigilant and be sure to keep their doors locked when they are and are not home.
"There's no indication at this point that it's something to be greatly alarmed about, but since we don't really have a solution to this crime yet, all safety measures should be taken," Scott said.
Robert Wilson had won $1 million dollar prize in the Illinois Lottery at the Taste of Chicago in 1988.
Scott said investigators are not yet certain if the murders were targeted, or a random crime.
