Police: Social Media Feud Leads To Teen Girl Stabbed In Burbank

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Social media squabbles turned violent in southwest suburban Burbank Monday afternoon, leaving one 17-year-old girl stabbed several times in her back and chest.

About 3:05 p.m., Burbank police were dispatched to the 8000 block of South Nashville after a disturbance involving 20 to 30 children was reported, according to a statement from Burbank police.

While officers were en route, they received more dispatch calls saying residents believed there was about to be a fight, police said.

A 17-year-old girl had gone to the "house of her adversary," another 17-year-old girl, to confront her about "issues" the two were having on social media websites, police said.

The girl who went to the other's house was eventually stabbed several times, police said. She was taken to an area hospital and "is doing well," police said.

No charges have been filed and none are pending as of Monday evening, police said.
