Man With Gun Found Dead After Standoff Arlington Heights

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (CBS) -- Police found an armed suspect dead Saturday afternoon following a standoff in Arlington Heights.

Arlington Heights police were called just before 2 p.m. to a house in the 2400 block of North Evergreen Avenue, just south of Waverly Drive and Arlington Heights Road, for a report of a man with a gun. A resident of the house had called 911, and officers came to the scene and confirmed the report.

All residents of the home were located and brought to safety, police said.

It was reported that the gunman was still inside, and the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System was called to the scene. Upon entry, they found the man with the gun was dead, police said.

During the standoff, police said Arlington Heights Road was closed between Rand and Dundee roads until further notice.

SWAT teams and a police command center were set up near Arlington Heights and Rand roads.

Roadways reopened around 6 p.m.

Police could not immediately provide further information.
