Police Searching For Mask-Wearing Man Who Tried To Abduct Girl On West Side
(CBS) -- Police seek a man who allegedly tried to abduct a girl early Wednesday in the West Side Austin neighborhood, reports WBBM's Bob Roberts.
The black plastic mask worn by the man during the abduction attempt left little doubt he meant trouble. Police say he drove an older, white SUV model with peeling paint, possibly a Chevy Suburban.
It ground to a halt at about 7 a.m. on the 800 block of North Lamon, blocking the path of a girl on her way to school.
The masked man emerged from the SUV and told the girl to come with him. She ran in the opposite direction instead. Police say the SUV followed her for two blocks before turning down an alley.
