Police Apprehend 2 People In Vehicle Linked To Calumet City Shooting After Chase

POSEN, Ill. (CBS) -- Police from multiple agencies late Thursday apprehended two people in a vehicle that has been linked to a shooting in Calumet City after a pursuit.

Police in Calumet City said it all started at 3:49 p.m., when an officer on patrol saw a black sport-utility vehicle that had been reported stolen in Chicago.

The same vehicle had been linked to a shooting incident in Calumet City, police said.

Calumet City officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but its river fled. A vehicle pursuit ended in Posen on 147th Street just east of Interstate 57, after the vehicle struck another car.

Both vehicles were damaged, but no injuries were reported, police said.

Meanwhile, the men bailed from the car and a search lasted for hours at Interstate 57 and 147th Street/Sibley Boulevard.

Illinois State Police ultimately took both suspects into custody and turned them over to Calumet City police.

Calumet City police said a gun was found in the car they ditched.
