Police: Robbers Luring Victims From Dating Site To South Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Robbers are using a female on a dating site to lure victims to the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood, according to police.

In two incidents, the male victims agreed to meet a female they met through a dating site in the 9200 block of South Bishop, but were instead met by three black males wearing hoodies and armed with guns who demanded their property, according to the community alert from Area South detectives.

The robberies happened about 10 p.m. Sept. 30 and about 1:25 a.m. Oct. 2, police said.

Police advise residents to meet strangers from the internet in a public location and to keep tracking software and security locks on cellphones.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8273.
