Chicago police officer run over by stolen police SUV driven by naked woman on West Side

Naked woman steals CPD vehicle, runs over officer

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A Chicago police officer was hospitalized Monday morning, after a naked woman attacked him, stole his SUV, and ran him over.

According to Police Supt. David Brown, around 9:45 a.m., officers responded to a naked woman lying in the street near Jackson Boulevard and Kostner Avenue. Brown said as officers helped her, the woman turned the tables and began to attack one of the officers.

Police said the woman then drove off in the Chicago police vehicle and drove over an officer, injuring his head and leg.

"A bunch of blood, trauma to the head, and it looked like he could barely walk. I'm hoping he'll be okay," said eyewitness Ruben Dunning, who watched it all from his apartment window. "She took the car, drove off in it, and the officer got out of the car to try to help her, and she ran him over, and she was butt naked."

The woman crashed into a white sedan about three miles away at Damen Avenue and Harrison Street, near Stroger Hospital, the same hospital where the officer was taken for treatment.

The woman was arrested, as the investigation into what set this all off remains on.

"We don't know why the woman was laying the street unclothed. We don't know the circumstances yet," Brown said.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

No charges have yet been filed against the woman.
