Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle On I-290

(STMW) --A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car on the Eisenhower Expressway in the Near West Side neighborhood early Sunday.

The man, thought to be in his 50s, was struck about 4:35 a.m. in the far right eastbound lanes on I-290 near the Ogden Avenue exit, according Illinois State Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

The man was seen walking from the O'Hare Forest Park Blue Line station and then onto eastbound lanes where he was fatally struck by a Toyota Camry, police said. As of Sunday afternoon, the driver was not issued any citations.

The man's name was not being released Sunday afternoon pending notification of kin.
